Keno is played at modern casinos, it is a lottery-like or bingo-like gambling game. There is a circular glass enclosure called a "bubble" containing 80 ping pong-like balls which determine the balldraw result in keno. There are numbers from 1 to 80 on each keno ball. A blower is used to push air into the bubble and mix the balls during the balldraw. A lever opening a tube is pressed by a "caller" and then the balls lift one at a time into a "V" shaped tube called the "rabbit ears". The caller and a "verifier" record each of 20 balls drawn, and the computerized keno system calculates all wagers based on the numbers drawn.
One can choose any numbers on a a blank keno ticket form and mark them with an "X". 20 balls at random are drawn only after the players wagers are placed.
Each casino sets its own series of pay scale choices called "paytables". Depending on how many numbers drawn match the numbers selected on the ticket the player is paid this or that sum of money. Keno paytables and the house edge set for each of those paytables vary greatly from casino to casino. One can hardly find two absolutely identical keno paytables.
Usually the house edge is from less than 4% to 66%.

It also contributed resources to building the Great Wall! Later keno was known as the White Pigeon game as people of surrounding villages were informed of the winning numbers by carrier pigeons.
The keno boards of the past consisted of the Chinese characters but not of the numbers. If at first the game included 120 characters, this number dropped to 80 in the course of time.
Thousads of Chinese immigrants, who came to America to work in the mines in the mid 1800's, brought keno there. The fact that gambling games were forbidden didn't prevent the Chinese from playing and spreading it all over the States. It became popular among the Americans only when the Chinese characters were changed into numbers.
